President Update
Hi Everyone,
It’s been a busy first few weeks since stepping into the President’s role, with new committee meetings, handover meetings with the previous committee, and plenty of time spent getting across the many different aspects of running our club.
I’d like to thank everyone who has helped with the transition, as well as those members who have reached out since our introductory email. It’s been great hearing your thoughts and ideas. There have already been some really good ones!
I’m also really excited about the little team we have on the committee. My unofficial Committee Member of the Month goes to our youngest committee member Teal, who has taken on our social media and is already getting things moving! If you don’t already follow the club, please support Teal and the club by giving us a follow on Instagram and Facebook.
Shoutout also to Lucy for also taking on our Member Protection Integrity Officer (MPIO), she’s our go to person with any feedback in regards to member protection and safety. More details on that below.
Looking forward to term 4 of tennis and working with our Head Coach Jackson Varney and team at JV Tennis Academy.
We’re also working on a few other things that we’ll hopefully be able to share with you over the coming months. Stay tuned!

MVP Female Winter 2026 - Abigail Brown
Junior Presentation Night was held on Sunday 13th September at Torquay Clubhouse as the Winter season wrap up and to present season awards. This season Presentation had a special juniors 1 Point Slam - thank you to all those who participated and helped run the great night and to all our Award winners!

Bellbrae Court Resurfacing & Beware of Magpies!
Be aware of swooping magpies around Bellbrae Courts.
Although the Bellbrae Courts were recently resurfaced, unfortunately they were not up to standard and will require a further resurface. This time it will just be the top synthetic grass layer (as the base is good) and the courts will not be out of action as long.
The court resurfacing is not yet booked and we are working with Council to confirm minimum disruption to play.
We’ll be in touch with Junior/Midweek/Senior Co-ordinators and Team Managers to shuffle locations as required during this time - we apologise for the inconvenience.
Reminder to Lock Courts & Clubhouse After Use
A friendly reminder to all our members to lock our courts and clubhouse after use. There’s been some reports of vandalism of public property recently and we’d love to ensure our facilities are kept nice and secure.
SCTC Member Protection Information Officer - Lucy Studer
With the new committee coming on board, we at Surfcoast Tennis Club have a new Member Protection Officer, Lucy Studer.
Surfcoast Tennis Club has a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of abuse, bullying, harassment or discrimination. The safety of participants, volunteers and officials is central to our goal to provide enjoyable and rewarding experiences.
If anything happens to you, or you see or hear something that doesn’t seem OK, Lucy Studer can listen to you, triage problems, and help you find the right place to resolve any issues you may have, whether it’s lodging a complaint or checking on your rights and responsibilities as a member of our sport.

Reminder that the new membership year starts 1 October 2026. A reminder email will be sent shortly (please check your junk mail or contact info@surfcoasttennisclub.com if you haven’t received notice).
Given membership fees were not passed at our recent club AGM, the 2026/27 Membership fees will remain on hold from previous year.

A Competitive Player Profile (CPP) is required for all players competing in Australia, whether at a local club or on the professional circuit. It connects your Tennis ID with your Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), creating a single, secure profile that stores your playing history, upcoming matches, and performance statistics. This ensures that all your competitive data is accessible in one place, providing a complete overview of your tennis activity.
